The UAE, and Dubai in particular, hosts many branch campuses of foreign universities, and has one of the largest Indian communities outside India.
The community
India's Ministry of External Affairs counted 6,507 Indian students in UAE universities and tertiary institutions as of January 2025, plus 247,325 in UAE schools. In Dubai, 41 private higher-education institutions enrolled 42,026 students in 2024-25, and Indians made up 43 per cent of international students, the largest group, according to KHDA. MEA puts the total number of overseas Indians in the UAE at about 4.34 million as of January 2026.
