AIS is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization representing 1.3 million Indian students across 32 countries. We advocate for student rights before governments and international bodies, shape immigration and education policy, and build the institutional infrastructure Indian students need to thrive abroad.
The Association of Indian Students (AIS) is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization and the international umbrella body for Indian student communities across the world. We exist to advocate — engaging governments, embassies, and international institutions directly on behalf of 1.3 million Indian students studying abroad. With chapters spanning North America, Europe, and Asia-Pacific, we shape immigration policy, defend student rights, and build the community infrastructure Indian students need to thrive.
AIS gives the 1.3 million Indian students studying abroad the collective power, legal standing, and institutional voice they deserve — connecting them to their host nations, to each other, and to a shared identity rooted in ambition, excellence, and resilience. We are nonpartisan, nonprofit, and accountable to no government — only to our students.
Representing student interests with governments, embassies, and international bodies to protect rights and improve policies.
Building belonging and connection for Indian students in every corner of the world through events and programs.
Visa guidance, pro-bono legal aid, mental health support, housing help, scholarships, and career tools.
Partnering with embassies, universities, and institutions to improve the Indian student experience abroad.
"Indian students are not just studying abroad — they are building economies, driving innovation, and representing India's future on a world stage."
