France is a growing destination for Indian students, with India now the 11th largest country of origin of international students in French higher education.
The community
Campus France reports 9,100 Indian students in French higher education in 2024-25, up 17 per cent in a year, which moved India from 13th to 11th among countries of origin. President Macron has set a goal of welcoming 30,000 Indian students by 2030. Indian nationals with a master's degree who studied at least one semester in France can apply for a short-stay Schengen visa valid for up to five years.
