Mexico hosts very few Indian students, but it is a significant trade partner for India, with a small Indian professional community concentrated in IT.
The community
India's Ministry of External Affairs recorded 15 Indian students in Mexican tertiary institutions as of January 2025. The Indian community in Mexico numbers around 10,000, about one fifth of them in Mexico City, and is made up largely of IT professionals. Bilateral trade reached US$10.58 billion in 2023, making India Mexico's ninth-largest trading partner. Mexico offers up to six scholarships to Indian students at any given time under a bilateral academic exchange programme.
