Denmark is a small but steady destination for Indian students, with 509 enrolled in higher education as of January 2025 according to India's Ministry of External Affairs. Statistics Denmark records between 468 and 519 new study residence permits a year for Indian citizens since 2022.

India's Ministry of External Affairs counted 509 Indian students in Danish tertiary institutions as of 1 January 2025. Statistics Denmark shows 468 residence permits for education were granted to Indian citizens in 2025, the seventh highest of any nationality. In September 2025 the Danish government announced plans to tighten study-based residence rules, including removing the option for third-country students to bring family members and cutting the automatic post-graduation job-seeking stay from three years to one.
