Ireland is one of the fastest-growing destinations for Indian students, and India is now the largest source of international students at Irish higher-education institutions.
The community
India was the largest source of non-Irish students at HEA-funded institutions in 2024/25, at 20.6 per cent of 44,535 international enrolments, about 9,175 students. Indian enrolments rose about 30 per cent that year, after growing roughly 50 per cent in 2023/24, when India overtook the United States as the top source country. Under the Third Level Graduate Programme, master's and PhD graduates can stay for up to 24 months and bachelor's graduates for up to 12 months.
