South Korea is a small destination for Indian students, but numbers are rising as the country expands international enrolment.
The community
Korea's Ministry of Justice counted 2,160 Indian students on student visas in July 2026, up from 2,027 a year earlier. Most, 1,922, were on degree-study visas, with 238 in Korean language programmes. The government's Study Korea 300K Project, announced in 2023, aims to host 300,000 international students by 2027, and the total had passed 300,000 by the end of 2025.
Korea had 308,838 foreign student visa holders at the end of 2025, passing its 2027 target of 300,000 two years early. Source
