The Netherlands had 3,679 Indian degree students in 2025-26, making India the third-largest source country outside the European Economic Area. Graduates can apply for a one-year orientation year residence permit to look for work.

Nuffic counted 3,679 Indian degree students at Dutch universities and universities of applied sciences in 2025-26, up from 3,553 the year before. Indian students are concentrated at master's level: new master's enrolments from India rose 16.5% in 2025-26. The orientation year permit, valid for one year, is open to graduates of Dutch programmes and of top 200 ranked foreign universities.
